POSCO is advancing the field of industrial health by leveraging digital innovation technologies. From February 19 to 21, POSCO co-hosted a roundtable on 'Industrial Health AI and Smart Technology Application Cases' at the 60th Winter Conference of the Korean Society of Occupational Health 2025, held at the Suwon Convention Center.

During the conference, practical applications of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics in industrial settings were showcased. At the event, POSCO presented cases where robotic and smart protective gear technologies were used to improve workplace conditions and enhance worker health. Hyundai Motor Group shared examples of industrial wearable robots. These sessions enabled government, academic, and industry experts to engage in in-depth discussions on integrating smart technologies into the industrial health sector.

A highlight of POSCO's presentation was the introduction of a 'quadruped walking robot.’ This robot offers an innovative solution for replacing high-risk manual tasks and is used by POSCO for facility inspections. In a steel mill, facility inspections are crucial for optimizing and maintaining production equipment, and the quadruped walking robot autonomously follows inspection routes, automatically gathers data, and detects anomalies in real time.

Additionally, POSCO introduced the 'Integrated Hearing Protection Solution,' a smart earplug utilizing IoT noise measurement technology. When worn by workers in noisy workplaces, it adjusts to block harmful noise while allowing communication between workers. POSCO and the Pohang Institute of Industrial Science and Technology (RIST) have completed the development of this solution and plan to implement it gradually.

Beyond the smart factory, POSCO aims to evolve into an 'Intelligent Factory' by promoting collaboration among humans, AI, and robots to create an intelligent autonomous manufacturing system. In the field of industrial health, POSCO is particularly focused on using digital innovation technologies to establish safe and healthy workplaces, thus protecting workers' health and safety.
